Musicological Society of Australia - Queensland Chapter

Actively supporting the future of music research in Queensland.

Sundays Symposium at Queensland Conservatorium was an incredible and innovative event with a vibrant group of Musicological presentation. Judges of had a difficult job determining a winner of both the undergraduate and Gordon Spearritt prize.

The presentations were incredibly diverse and showed the strength and enthusiasm of Queensland's active and practice based approach to musicology.

Winner of the Undergraduate Student prize was:
Reilly Smethurst (QCGU) with his Composition focused work:
The Rope: A new work Inspired by practical analysis of Lucier's ' I am sitting in a room' and Berio's Thema.

The Gordon Spearritt prize was awarded to:
Michale Knopf (QCGU) with his composition based performance of: Shur for solo guitar.

Congratulations to all presenters for a very high standard of research. Many thanks to the MSAQ committee for all the hard work in preparation and execution of the day. We look forward to seeing you all in Newcastle for the National conference.
